Our Nolah review of this new all foam model to hit the market with a proprietary new foam that promises to sleep cooler and comfortable than other mattresses. Nolah Sleep is a new company based out of Colorado which was founded by sleep industry entrepreneurs who spent 18 months researching and developing their own custom Air Foam.
The Air Foam used in this model was designed to sleep cooler than traditional memory foam and offer 4x more pressure relief on areas such as the hips and back.

Firmness & Support
The Nolah is a universal comfort model, and only comes in one firmness option, which we rate it at a 6-7 out of 10 (10 being the firmest). It initially was a little firm to me, as I am significantly heavier than Kaye, I tend to press through the top layer and feel more of the support layers in most mattresses.
However, after sleeping on the Nolah for about 2 weeks, it softened up more and became much more comfortable and supportive for my 230lb weight and large 6’+ frame.

Kaye felt the Nolah was the perfect firmness, as she likes mattresses on the firmer end of the spectrum usually.
In terms of support, we feel this model does a really good job of providing excellent support in all sleeping positions. As we are primarily side sleepers, we like models that provide enough give in the top comfort layer to support our shoulders and hips, while also having the firmness if we switch to our stomachs and backs.
It felt good on my hips and shoulders and did not cause any numbness or discomfort which I often experience with lower quality mattresses.
The Nolah is deceiving, in that it initially feels rather firm and not as cushioned. However, after sleeping on it for an extended amount of time, we found that our bodies adapted to it and molded to the memory foam without feeling stuck or trapped in the foam.
Its Air Foam combined with the Avena latex both work well together to provide the classic memory foam feeling of body hug and contour without feeling trapped. The latex does a good job at supporting our bodies and providing good responsiveness when changing positions during the night without causing excess motion transfer.
The Nolah does a good job at providing a cool sleeping surface via the use of the proprietary Nolah Air Foam. We felt a small amount of body heat retention from the mattress when sleeping at times, which is common for all foam-constructed mattresses in our experience, but it wasn’t bad.
All in all, it does a very good job at minimizing heat during the night.
Sinkage & Motion Transfer
The Nolah does an excellent job with sinkage and motion transfer, especially compared to most models we have reviewed. As we always preach, sinkage (and motion transfer) is largely weight dependent.
The fact that I weigh around 230lbs tends to have a rather large bearing on the degree of sinkage I experience when sitting and lying on it. Kaye, who is half my weight, experiences much less sinkage than I do, but again this is to be expected due to her much lighter weight.
Nolah profile view
With the Nolah mattress, we noticed immediately that any movement by me during the night wasn’t felt by Kaye much at all. I also did not sink down through the mattress and compress it with my weight like often is the case with all foam mattresses.
Edge support is very good with this mattress, and better than most memory foam mattresses we have reviewed. I slept near the edge at time to test this and did not experience any of the “rolling off” the edges or having them compressed under my weight.
Smell / Off-Gassing
It had an average amount of off-gassing when taken out of the box and packaging, which can be expected from an all foam model. The odor dissipated within a night and was nothing out of the ordinary compared to many similarly constructed models.
It provides more than the standard customer service offerings you can expect in a “Bed In A Box” online retailer. This includes:
- 120 Night Sleep Trial Period
- 15 Year Warranty
- Made in America
- Free Shipping
This model is reasonably priced at $850 for a Queen, which is a good price given the quality materials and construction used.
With years of industry experience in creating and manufacturing some of the world’s best mattresses, Nolah offers consumers a high-end high-tech cooling mattress with better pressure relief and durability than other conventional Latex and Memory Foam.
- - AirFoam combines benefits of memory foam and latex
- - Reversible firmness with Signature model
- - Lifetime warranty coverage for Signature
- - Required to keep the mattress for 30 nights before initiating a return
